A local area network (LAN) is one of the most common types of computer networks, and it’s used to facilitate communication between computers within a specific geographical area.

The Risks of a LAN

This blog post will show you how to create a LAN that is safe and secure.

 1. Purchase an Ethernet cable from any electronic store.

 2. Connect one side of the Ethernet cable to your modem or router's WAN port. 

3. Connect the other side of the Ethernet cable to a computer on your network's local area network 

4. Repeat steps 2-3 for every computer on your local area network with at least one connection point per computer . 

After step 3, you should have a minimum of two computers connected to each other. To set up security settings for your server, follow these instructions: 

1) Click Control Panel on your desktop screen. 

2) Open System Properties by clicking it. 

3) Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). 

4) Select Use the following IP address from the list of options on this page. 

5) Input into both the IP Address and Subnet Mask fields on this page. 

6) Enter your desired number for Default Gateway 

7) Enter for Preferred DNS Server 

8) Enter as Alternate DNS Server 

9) Click OK to confirm all of the changes made 

10) Restart your computer so all changes take effect After restarting your computer, you'll notice that your personal firewall software automatically opens and begins scanning any new traffic coming from the internet. These features make LANs safer because there are far fewer vulnerabilities than there would be if it weren't used at all.

The Steps to Creating a LAN

What is a LAN? A LAN, or local area network, is a group of computers connected to each other so that they can share resources. A LAN allows for faster file sharing and the ability for multiple devices on the same network to communicate with one another. 

The most common way of creating a LAN is by setting up an Ethernet cable connection between two computers and connecting them using an Ethernet cable. The Ethernet cables plug into the back of each computer. 

You can buy these cables at any store that sells computer equipment, like Walmart or Best Buy. Once you have your Ethernet cables ready to go, connect one end into your modem and the other end into your computer's ethernet port (usually found near where you plug in your USB devices). 

Now take the second ethernet cable and plug it into the port labeled Ethernet on your second computer. Connect both computers to power sources via their respective power cords. After the lights turn green on both machines, you will be all set! 

Make sure that the machines are plugged into the correct ports; if not, then this will not work. 

You should also make sure that you are plugged into power before continuing onto step five. Otherwise, this will not work as well.
